Daniel Tisman, lcsw

I am a licensed New York State psychotherapist in private practice in Manhattan. I come to my practice with a 15-year background in theatre and the dramatic arts. I have been a long time student of yoga and Vipassana or "insight" meditation. I received my Undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Receiving my clinical training from the Hunter College School of Social Work, I was honored with the Phyllis Carroff Award for Outstanding Clinical Social Worker and went on to complete my post-graduate training at the Gestalt Center for Psychotherapy and Training in New York City.
Gestalt therapy is a present centered, mind-body therapy that includes amongst its influences: Existentialism, Psychodrama and Eastern Philosophies. All of which have been lifelong interests of mine. I am honored to be a full faculty member of the Gestalt Center for Psychotherapy and Training in Manhattan.
My psychotherapy experience includes:
Over the past twenty years I have been an educator, a theatre performer, a workshop leader, a student of Yoga and mindfulness meditation and a practicing Gestalt therapist. I believe as a therapist I am sensitive, attuned and aware of the subtle emerging needs that each individual brings to the profound therapeutic relationship.
